mindlessmunkey is right - any question can seem "unfair" if it's outside your area of expertise. I do think this could be rephrased to read "What is the biggest US state?" Also, "biggest" is kind of ambiguous; "geographically biggest" or "largest area would be more clear.
I disagree, and I'm not American either. I find some questions unfair too, for example specific cultural references to things unknown outside the US. However this is a geography question. You don't need to be American to study an atlas.
